Oculus Rift VR headset
After three years in development, the Facebook-owned Oculus Rift virtual reality headset is soon to become a reality for consumers. Early users will be mostly gamers with later adoption expected in diverse fields such as film, medicine and education. This may not be news, but it is virtual reality.
As one of the most-anticipated technologies on the near horizon, the Oculus Rift VR headset was a must-have inclusion in Popular Science‘s 2015 How It Works issue. As a regular PopSci contributor, I was the must-have illustrator for the assignment. What better way to explain the basics of an immersive 3D technology than a 3D exploded rendering of the product? The result makes the yet-to-be-released product a virtual reality for the magazine’s readers.
